You are the weakest link - Now get the hell out of my government!

Not only are our politicians corrupt - they are dumb too.

Israel has its very own version of the quiz show, The Weakest Link. A couple of nights ago there was an episode featuring politicians. I occasionally watch the British version here on BBC prime. The questions are quite easy - not as easy as the dumbed down American version - but general knowledge questions that most somewhat educated people could answer. The questions asked on the Israeli version are quite simple as well.

For example: What area of medicine does a gastroenterologist deal with? What is the name the Muslim commander who conquered Jerusalem? What language did Bashevis-Singer write in? On what continent is Mongolia located?

Easy right? Not for our leadership. A former adviser to the health minister guessed a gastroenterologist deals with the intuition! A college professor didn't know that Saladin conquered Jerusalem! Gila Gamiel, the chair of the union of Israeli students and number 11 on the Likud list did not know that that Isaac Bashevis-Singer wrote in Yiddish and guessed that Mongolia is on the continent of Africa! She also said that Catherine the Great ruled over Greece! Worst of all when asked to finish the statement a wolf in whose clothing," she replied without hesitating: "elephant".

She later claimed "To compete in politics, you need the skin of an elephant."

Yeah sure Gila, I guess you need the intelligence of an elephant too.
