Bomb and Arrows

israel, the situation
Today was a very good day and a very bad day.

Israel successfully tested the Arrow missile. If every test launch up until now was delivering a bitch slap at Iraq - today's successful test is opening a can of whoop ass. The Arrow defense system works unlike the patriot. They have although done some renovations on patriots improving them tremendously but the Arrow is the real shiznit.

The bad news is that there was a double suicide bombing in Tel Aviv. Twenty people were killed and scores were wounded - mostly foreign workers. I was watching channel two and the news presenter was pleading in English for foreign workers caught in the blast to seek medical attention. Many of the wounded ran away fearing that they would be arrested and deported for being in the country illegally. In a shocking move for a Shas member, Interior Minister Eli Ishai granted immunity to all foreign workers who were caught in the blast.

I used to work in the area on Rehov Masger not far from the bus station. I used to walk to the Central Bus Station every day from the office. It was a five minute walk through the pedestrian walkway where hundreds of foreign workers relaxed with several beers after a long day of work. It was always crowded - winter and summer. The area is a bit dodgy but I never had any problems there.

The situation here is just plain sad.
