Peace sells and Megadeth is buying
It’s been rumored for several weeks that this year’s Metalist festival was going to have a huge act. Megadeth is the band. I’m kind of stoked. But sadly, tribe member Marty Friedman’s guitar wizardry will be lacking since he left the band a few years ago. A metalhead friend ensures me that Dave Mustaine has surrounded himself with youngens who are up to the task. I don’t know. To me it feels like seeing the Beach Boys without Brian Wilson. But screw it, I’ll go anyway. YNET gets it wrong when they say this will be Megadeth’s first visit to Israel. They played Cinerama Theatre in Tel Aviv in April of 95.
Ai ya, wo mun wan leh
Serenity trailer is finally up.
And it’s so damn Shiny!
God, I’m such a dork. Well, at least I don’t write fan fiction.
Now that shit really creeps me out.
Happy Passover
Wishing a you and yours a happy Passover.
The enourmous amount of cleaning and cooking didn’t leave enough time for a podcast today. Our very special “Passover Edition” will appear tomorrow!
And in "High" Tech news…
The Marker is reporting that Aladdin Knowledge Systems Founder and CEO Yanki Margalit will be DJ’ing at this year’s Marijuana Day. Marijuana Day is held every May in Park HaYarkon in support of the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana. The event will be taking place on May 8th and once again Member of Knesset Roman Bronfman will attempt to address the crowd. Last year’s event was suspiciously shut down about fifteen minutes before Bronfman was scheduled to speak. A coincidence? I think not. It was the first time a MK was ever addressing the event, so the crackdown was undoubtedly political. It will be interesting to see what will happen this year.
You can read my take on last year’s even here.

Who is this Matisyahu guy anyway?
Everyone’s favorite hasidic reggae superstar, Matisyahu has gotten a shitload of press this week upon the release of his new album, Live at Stubb’s: Austin (which is currently #37 on Amazon).
Check out this review of Matisyahu’s sold out Irving Plaza show at the popular indie music blog, Brooklyn Vegan.
So I went to the sold out show at Irving Plaza (capacity 1000?) Sunday night (April 17, 2005), and I realized that he was more than really good. If I do a ‘top ten shows of the year,’ this one has a serious shot at making the list. And where have I been? There were more people looking for extra tickets than outside The Arcade Fire. There were more people dancing than Bloc Party. There were more people crowd surfing than at Mudvayne.Matisiyahu raps better than M.I.A., sings better than Annie, and is even more inspirational than Kimya Dawson. And as far as reggae goes, he hangs with the best of them. If you don’t believe me, look at the flyer for Carifest happening at Randall’s Island in NYC on July 10th. (he beatboxes too)
Respect.
The Associated Press and Rolling Stone both show their love!
Golly, I haven’t been this excited about a Jewish musician since Evan & Jaron!

Let my superheroes go!
Ben Grimm. Kitty Pryde. Magneto. Sabra. Moon Knight.
What do all these people have in common?
Well, they’re all MOT (members of the tribe) and they are all celebrating Passover together.
Comic book fans rejoice. Check it out here.
I guess The Seraph, Nuklon, Anastasia Inyushin of Psi-Force, Masada, The Atom, and Volcana and Doc Samson weren’t invited this year.

Dreaming in Dubai
So here’s the deal. Gloria Gaynor of “I Will Survive” fame performed at a pro-Israel rally in Paris last week. This week she’s scheduled to performed in Dubai. Orly Halpern of The Jerusalem Post writes an absolute pointless article about how the people of Dubai do not care that she performed in at the pro-Israel event, that one thing has nothing to do with the other, times have changed…yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah…
But lest we forget that we really aren’t welcome there, are we?
Visas are easily obtainable for other visitors except Israelis and travellers whose passports bear Israeli stamps.
Also, it was objectionable to have a photograph of two Jewish boys in a textbook. Times are changing my ass.
However, what troubled me most about the Jerusalem Post article is that they neglected to mention that Sister Sledge is the opening act. Their hit “We Are Family” has was a staple at Bar Mitzvahs and Jewish weddings throughout the eighties. Surely, the citizens of Dubai would have a problem with that…
There is no God
First it was announced that The Scorpions are coming to Israel and now YNET (Hebrew) is reporting that Phil Collins will be performing in Israel in November.
Have we not suffered enough?
And what about those rumors that flew around in the eighties about Collins donating to the PLO and making disparaging remarks about Jews? Anyone actually see any facts about that?
I did a massive online search and came up with nothing.
