A very special edition of Kochav Nolad (Israel’s "American Idol")

Old Blog

The show must go on they say. With Katusha missiles landing in Carmiel, Tsfat, Nahariya and now Haifa, Israel’s top reality program Kochav Nolad (A Star is Born), the Israeli version of American Idol has changed their format for the evening. No competition, no voting, no criticism, no sms messages – just an evening of Israeli song. Between each song they are going to a live feed to Channel 2 Northern correspondent, Menachem Horowitz. Horowitz is sitting in a bomb shelters in Kiryat Shmona with kids who are fans of the show. I understand the whole solidarity thing but this bizarre combination of news and entertainment doesn’t sit well with me. It just feels cheap.
