Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson Kippot

Old Blog

I’ve lived here long enough not to be surprised by the weirdness of Jerusalem. Novelty kippot (yarmulkes) have been the rage for years now. It’s a way of saying, “Hey! I’m a religious Jew and I love the Knicks!” or “I can live in the world of the Torah and love Elmo!”

I saw these today on Ben Yehuda street, the main thoroughfare of Jerusalem.

Do you subscribe to the School of Homer or the School of Peter Griffin?

Kind of like a Hillel and Shammai thing, no?

I know where I stand. Doh!

And what’s up with this Mercedes kippah? I guess this means we’ll have to forgive them for all that slave labor stuff they pulled during WW2. And is that supposed to be Harry Potter? WTF?
