Adam Bizanski - Israeli Indie video animator extraordinaire
It’s been a good year for Adam Bizanski. While serving in the IDF he found solace in The Shin’s first album, Inverted World. The album not only inspired Bizanski to make a video for the band, but the band actually embraced it and placed the video on their website. Due to the positive reactions The Shins received from their fans, their label, Sub Pop, submitted the video to MTV and the video had heavy rotation on MTV’s college station, mtvU. He’s since made meticulous stop motion animated videos for Zero 7, Wolf Parade and his latest video is for Guster’s new single, Satellite.

Harry vs. Zombies
I’ve been feeling quite crappy lately. The drugs help the physical aspect of my pain of course, but don’t do much for the spirit. In fact, narcotic hazes can get quite depressing. I’m actually dumbfounded as to how people actually get addicted to this stuff. I haven’t taken a decent shit in over a week. Anyway, the drugs don’t lift the spirits, but when a good friend (Michael of Kosher Eucharist and that Jew blog) gives me a kick ass drawing of me blowing the head off a decayed Zombie with a Desert Eagle while holding off a freshly bit Zombie with a katana, well, let’s just say it makes me feel super awesome. Like a super awesome Zombie destroyer! Bring on the undead!
Arthur Murray calling…
I first met Jacob Shwirtz two years ago at a business meeting but got to know him a bit better at a conference we both attended earlier this year. He’s my type of guy. He loves good food, obscure facts and has an incredibly wry sense of humor. To celebrate his third year of aliyah he decided to “dance” his way across Israel. I was a bit taken back by his lack of dance skills but he assures me that his patented “dance” was rehearsed for several days and his “mashed potato,” “twist” and “running man” are way above average.
Pain in the back….
Once again I’ve been decimated by crippling back pain. I’ve been in bed since Saturday. Pissed off that I missed the Herzliya conference but what can you do. It’s the same thing over and over again. I really can’t deal with this happening every few months. It’s demoralizing. Once I heal, we’ll begin our investigation as to why this keeps happening. I’ve done physical therapy, muscle building exercises and the like. I’m certain that this has something to do with the arthritic inflammation in my hip but I’m not a doctor dammit! Anyway, today is the first day I walked around the apartment without convulsing in pain looking like a wet cat. I’ve weaned off the pain meds and so far, so good. I’m selling off the rest to the highest bidder.

Harry 2.0: Launch is imminent
Well, it’s been ten months since I left my 9-5 job and began pursuing a super duper project that has, at times, overwhelmed me. It was supposed to happened much sooner, but personal tragedy had me in the weeds for some time and prevented me from moving forward at a faster rate. Thankfully, those days are behind me. Good vibes are in the air and within the next two months we’ll be launching Jerusalemite, The Definitive Culture Guide to Jerusalem. It’s an ambitious project that will be, without a doubt, the most comprehensive guide to Jerusalem on the web. Feel free to sign up for a launch update here. I’m not going to give up too much, you’ll have to be patient. Patience is a virtue after all. But we will be looking for a few beta testers in the coming weeks, so if you are interested, be sure to let me know.
I’m also thinking about changing the direction of this blog, moving away a bit from the Jewish/Israel angle and expanding into uncharted territory. Yeah, I’m definitely going to rebrand, just haven’t figured out how yet…
