Itsty Bitsy Nano-Bible

israel, religion, technology

Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology has released the very first nano-bible. A clever ploy to bring people closer to religion, er, I mean nano-technology. The entire bible has been inscribed on gold-coated silicon surface smaller than the head of a pin.nano.jpg

This is not an attempt to make the holy book more portable, but an exercise meant to arouse public interest in nanotechnology. It was part of an educational program developed at the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute at Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology aimed especially at young people….

The nano-Bible was produced at the Technion with a special computer program that can create any text on a tiny surface. The question of “How small can the Bible be?” is really about the larger question of how to store data in a very small space. In the future, nanotechnology experts hope to inscribe data on DNA or other bio-molecules…

They’ll be photographing it and blowing it up 10,000 times its original size and will display the nano-bible at the Technion. The original nano-bible, the size of a piece of crystal sugar will be on display next to photograph.

Yes ,this last nanobible is amazing but it is not a breakthrought. I saw the first nanobible 2 years ago on this site http://www.crystal-bible.com. The major interrest is the possibility to wear close to your heart this edition and the possibility to read it with a personal pen microscope! Check this site out!
