Check out what’s happening at Designist Dream
I have been very busy with work these past few days and all the time I’ve been dedicating to my blog has been adding tags and categorizing my 1000+ old posts. It’s an arduous task to say the least but will have numerous benefits for all involved. Only 500 more to go. Whew.
While I continue to focus on these efforts for the next few days I’d like to invite you to check out Ziva’s blog, Designist Dream. If you haven’t been following her blog here is what you’ve been missing:
Give Peace a Stamp: Franck de las Mercedes’ Priority Art Boxes
Skinning the Surface: Israeli Design Studio Reddish
Israeli Fashion Takes Over the World
Southern Hospitality for Israeli Art
RSS? Is this thing on?
Dan did some sort of merge/uber-redirect with my old feed into a feedburner feed. So as of right now I have just one subscriber. There are at least seventy something of you who subscribed to my old feed so hopefully you will get this message. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason, please note that my new feed can be found here.
Subscribe at your own risk.
Update: Apparently the feed is still all messed up. Working to resolve.
What is this I see before me?
The View from Here v.3.0 coming very soon. Lots of tweaking over the next week or so. End result will be good I hope.
The View from Here - Five Years Young
Hard to believe this blog is five years old today. Back when I started I think there were maybe four other Israelis blogging in English. It was a nice time for the Israeli blogosphere. These days there is too much information, too many opinions (most being to right-wing or way too left-wing. Where are the centrists? Same Same. But Different.
I haven’t had the blog mojo for quite some time now. The past few years has had its ups and downs and there are some things I just don’t enjoy sharing with the world. Also, I’ve been so uber-frustrated with the state of the nation that I don’t feel infuriating myself further by writing about things that irk me.
My entire world has changed in the past year. I’ve embarked on building a business (which is doing quite well thank you), busting my ass on Jerusalemite (launching soon, I promise) and the most important change has been the addition of an incredibly inspiring little family member. I’ve fallen into cliche territory I’m afraid. Little Tzofie is my entire world and when I’m not working I rather be sitting down strumming my guitar for her. She reached for the guitar strings for the first time a couple of days ago. It was the defining moment of my life. So I’m not really sure what the status of this here blog is. And that’s all I have to say about that.
Reconsidering….
Due to the lovefest in the comments in the post below I am considering delaying my retirement from this blog. I wasn’t actually drunk at the time, just in a blog funk, questioning my humanity and the like. Am I a Cylon? What?
Bomb with love! Bomb with love!
All you Battlestar Galactica fans. Tell me that the jump into the atmosphere/freefall/launchvipers/jump into orbit wasn’t the coolest thing you’ve ever seen on television? Damn that Adama knows how to plan an attack.
I’m a liar
I make a lot of empty promises. I never got around to editing the podcast I mentioned in my previous post. It’s a bit dated so it will probably never see the light of day. Maybe on “The View from Here” boxed set that is slated for release in 2012.
The Return of Harry
I am back. I would like to thank the indispensable “B” for filling in for me while I was gone. He did an outstanding job. Top notch. His entries garnered more comments than mine usually do so he was obviously doing something right. “B,” you will be rewarded kindly. Perhaps you should return writing your long abandoned blog?
More on my adventures in the land of Heidi tomorrow…..
In the meantime I urge you to read this entry I wrote just over a week ago. I had a great time writing it and if I do say so it’s quite funny but none of you folks commented on it!
Passing the blog torch (temporarily)
Shalom everyone. I’ll be away for the next week and my good friend “B” will be filling in for me while I am gone. He is equally as cynical as I am so you are in good hands. A couple more things about “B”. He lives in Tel Aviv, loves Chinese food, cholent and has some amazing Jdate stories which I hope he will share with you. Ladies beware.
Good luck B.

First ever Israeli blogger get together
So Thursday night’s blogger get together was cool. Unfortunately, I showed up late due to a miscalculated turn at peak traffic time in Tel Aviv which ruined my plan of introducing myself as David of Israellycool. Luckily things were kicking when I got there. I managed to meet and chat with just about everyone (except one person) but time was short and at times meeting everyone was overwhelming. So a second meeting is definitely going to have to happen and next time hopefully the wife will come along. Some folks said some really nice things about my blog which inflated my head and will hopefully will provide an impetus to blog more often. Apparently, I don’t blog often enough. Maybe that’ll change when theviewfromhere.net v.2.0 launches in the coming weeks.
